Voted one of Reserve America's Top 25 in Picnic areas, Tours and Events, and one of Reserve America's Top 50 in Scenic Parks, Niobrara State Park is a fantastic getaway to an area that is pristine and quiet from the busyness of everyday life. This State Park has 19 cabins available that are open year round, 69 camp sites with electrical hookups and 50 camp sites without electricity available, as well as Adirondack shelters for backpackers. Niobrara State Park offers a wide range of outdoor experiences to any visitor, including being a part of the Saturday evening interpretive programs and buffalo burger cookouts. The park is home to a wide range of wildlife including bald eagle, white-tailed deer, beaver, minx, turkey, coyote, and a variety of other bird species.
This area offers guests guided horseback trail rides, swimming pool to cool off during those hot summer afternoons, fishing pond, 14 miles of trails that are great for bird watching, hiking & biking, boat access areas, fishing in all seasons, playgrounds for children, interpretive shelters, an accessible fishing bridge and much much more! The staff at Niobrara State Park strives to keep the area as pristine as possible, while offering modern conveniences for visitors.
Groups of elm, hackberry, ash and other trees are scattered throughout the park and adorn the cliff areas along the rivers. Visitors can check out the site where mosasaurus bones have been found, the Mormon Monument, the Ponca Cemetery, the Standing Bear Monument, or go down to the river level to enjoy a view from the bottom of the cliffs upward. Scenic overlooks, river bluffs, wetland areas, river islands and a panoramic view of the entire river valley will knock the socks off of every visitor.
